Inform USA Webinar: Resources for Rehabilitation I&R
Topic Description:
The National Rehabilitation Information Center (NARIC) is the repository and library for the National Institute on Disability, Independent Living, and Rehabilitation Research (NIIDLRR). Our library holds research articles, books, and other evidence-based information products on disability and rehabilitation. NARIC’s librarians and information and referral specialists help consumers find the resources they need in their communities. In this presentation, NARIC staff will share how NARIC can help I&R specialists find the right resources right now for their clients in English and Spanish, will describe NARIC’s databases and their search functions, and will share how to stay updated on NARIC products and services and what the NIDILRR grantee community is doing.

Bios:
Jess Chaiken:
Jess joined NARIC in 1996 after completing a Masters in American Sign Language Linguistics at Gallaudet University and she completed her Master of Library and Information Services at Drexel University. As NARIC’s leader of the Media Team, Jess developed NARIC’s web presence, including the move to online databases. She introduced virtual reference, social media, and push/alert services.
Marta Garcia:
Marta joined NARIC in 2010 as a bilingual information and Media Specialist and is an Inform USA certified information and referral specialist. They bring a strong background in recreational therapy for pediatric and geriatric populations. Marta provides information and referral services in English and Spanish and translates all original material from NARIC. They originated the NARIC Spotlight Podcast and continue as editor and production manager.
