Managing Stress During the Winter Holiday Season
The days are getting shorter, in many places’ temperatures are dropping, and seasonal drinks are being enjoyed in your local coffee shop. Winter is here and with it, many cultures in the U.S. will celebrate holidays.
These winter holidays can bring joy and happiness, but they can also bring frustration and stress. Join the NAMI National HelpLine to learn how you can manage stress during the winter holiday season.

Dawn P. Brown, National Director, NAMI HelpLine Services
Dawn leads the NAMI HelpLine team. Together with hundreds of volunteers, the NAMI HelpLine provides essential information, resource referrals, and peer support to thousands impacted by mental health challenges. Dawn was drawn to NAMI following her son’s schizophrenia diagnosis and participated in NAMI’s education programs and support groups. In 2011, she volunteered to serve on the NAMI HelpLine. Shortly afterward, she accepted a staff position.
Dawn is a native of Washington, DC, with extensive experience as a project manager and small business owner supporting non-profits in the area.
Jessica Hart, Senior Manager, NAMI HelpLine Resource Development
Jessica has been a committed advocate for all people affected by mental health conditions for over 15 years. In her current position, Jessica leads the identification and qualifying of all HelpLine resources to ensure that when help seekers reach out, we have the right resource for the next step in their mental health journey. She also leads efforts to execute successful marketing plans collaborating alongside the NAMI Marketing and Communications team to ensure that when people need help, that they know NAMI HelpLine is there for them.
Jessica has her Master of Social Work degree from Boston College and her Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology and social behavior from the University of California, Irvine where she graduated with honors.
Jessica was born in Boston, raised in Southern California, and currently lives in Alexandria, Virginia where she loves to read while cuddled up with her Shih Tzu-Yorkie mix, Eleanor “Ellie” Roosevelt Hart.
